'The Paper Show'

An exhibition of works by Lisa Hillring, Virginia Rose Kane and Leora "Lee" Smith that explores the use of paper runs through May 28 in Tai Sophia Institute's Himmelfarb Gallery, 7750 Montpelier Road in Laurel. The artists incorporate the techniques of handmade paper, cut paper, collage and woven paper. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Art exhibits

•The Laurel Art Guild presents "Pigeon Keeper," on display at its annual juried exhibition through Sunday, March 27, at the Montpelier Arts Center, 9652 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Information: 301-377-7800.

•"And They're Off!: 100 Years at Laurel Park" Centennial exhibit at the Laurel Museum explores the history and racing highlights at Laurel Park and the track's impact on the community. Chesapeake Woodturners exhibit

Turned wood objects, handmade by members of the Chesapeake Woodturners will be on display through March 31 at Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Demonstrations will be given from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Exhibition hours are 1p.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Free admission. Information: 301-377-7817.

Blood drive

Fun at the library

A "Picture Book Parade!" for children ages 2-5 with an adult will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursdays at the Savage branch of the Howard County Library. Pajama Time, when children may wear pajamas and bring teddy bears and blankets, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays. The branch is at 9525 Durness Lane in Laurel. Information: 410-880-5980.
