Entering Friday's Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association championship, Rodgers had seven goals and 12 assists in 17 games, but coach Rob Merson said the senior had been somewhat unlucky."He hit a lot of posts," Merson said. But in the most important game of the season, Rodgers put his team on his back. He had two goals and four assists in a 7-3 victory over defense-heavy St. Paul's. "He has decent skills, decent hands and is a smart hockey player," said Merson, who saw his team return to being a champion for the first time in three years. "The points he scored in that game were amazing, and I could play him at any position." Rodgers carries a 3.2 GPA, plans to major in political science in college and is considering George Washington and James Madison.
