Keys to victory

With the dynamic guard duo of Pratcher and Pyatt, defending Baltimore City champion Edmondson — now 5-0 in league play — has picked up where it left off last season. . Edmondson coach Darnell Dantzler knows that if his Red Storm can stay close, his two experienced guards will find a way to take over in the fourth quarter. More proof came Tuesday when they combined to score 40 points in the team's 70-66 win over No. 6 Dunbar. Led by its own senior guard pair of Maryland-bound Nick Faust and Mike Cheatham, defending Class 2A state champ City entered the season as the No. 1 team in the area but, have battled with inconsistency throughout. In a rematch of last year's 2A North region title game, a 59-58 City win that wasn't decided until two inside shots from Edmondson went off the rim, the Knights are hoping another such victory could turn their season around. City coach Mike Daniels said strong defending and making free throws — something the team has struggled with all season — will be the keys to bringing home a win.
