McDonogh junior Kayel Locke surpassed 1,000 points for his career last Wednesday, scoring 26 points and adding 11 rebounds to help his team beat St. Maria Goretti. Locke followed that with a 32-point, 13-rebound performance against Calvert Hall on Saturday for the No. 13-ranked Eagles. "He's been starting for us since he was a freshman," McDonogh coach Donta Evans said. "That first year, he averaged 14 points, and every year he has gotten better. This year he's averaging 18.9 points." The 6-foot-5, 250-pound power forward is a complete offensive player, able to go to the basket, shoot the long ball, pass and rebound. "The only thing I'm working on is getting him to play defense a little more aggressively," Evans said. Locke has a 3.1 GPA and is being recruited by Boston University, Delaware, Drexel and George Mason, among other Division I schools.
