3 Blast players suspended after altercation vs. Wave

The Major Indoor Soccer League suspended three players each from the Baltimore Blast and the Milwaukee Wave after an altercation that took place during the teams' game in Milwaukee on Sunday. For the Blast, Lucio Gonzaga was suspended for two games, while Mike Lookingland and Warren Ukah each received a ban of one game. The Waves' Troy Dusosky, Evan McNeley and Hewerton Moreira were suspended for a game apiece. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the Blast's 12-6 win in Milwaukee. Gonzaga, Lookingland and Ukah will sit out when the Blast travels to Chicago to take on the Riot on Sunday, and Gonzaga will also miss Friday's game against the Wave.

Lacrosse program postponed; new date to be announced

Sports Legends Museum has postponed the "In the Crease with Kyle Harrison" lacrosse program today because it would conflict with the Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers playoff game at 4:30 p.m. A new date will be announced later. The museum, which will be open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, will continue its January half-price admission special in celebration of the Ravens' third consecutive playoff appearance.

Greater Baltimore Hall chapter to induct 10 on Jan. 22

The Greater Baltimore Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse will induct 10 new members into its 2011 Hall of Fame class. Joe Breschi (Loyola High and North Carolina), Tony Seaman (Towson), Quint Kessenich (Johns Hopkins), Butch Marino (Delaware), Michael Watson (Virginia), Krystin Porcella (Loyola University), Michelle Meyer Dwan (Loyola), Stephanie Roberts Radebaugh (Loyola), Gina Roberts Ubriaco (Loyola) and Anne Ensor (New Hampshire) will be inducted at a banquet Jan. 22 at Grand Mason Lodge in Hunt Valley. Towson-Delaware men's tipoff moved to noon today

Today's game between visiting Delaware and Towson will tip off at noon so fans can watch the Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game. Fans wearing Ravens apparel will be admitted to the basketball game free of charge.

More men's college basketball: Shane Walker sealed the win with a dunk as host Loyola (7-9, 3-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) won, 66-65, over Fairfield (12-4, 5-1) on Friday. … Shane Yambor had 22 points in a losing effort for visiting Goucher (2-9, 0-4 Landmark Conference), which fell, 80-65, to Drew (5-9, 1-3). The Gophers led, 54-48, midway through the second half before the Rangers went on a 12-0 run.

Women: Miriam McKenzie broke a 50-50 tie by going 2-for-2 from the line and Erica DiClemente knocked down a jumper in the closing minutes as host Loyola (7-9, 4-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) won, 54-52, over Fairfield (10-5, 3-2). The Greyhounds led for most of the second half before the Stags tied the game twice and came within one point. … Precious Kollock (Patapsco) scored 13 points, and Goucher (1-11, 1-3 Landmark) held Drew (7-6, 0-4) under 30 percent shooting from the field to win, 55-51.

Brooks Robinson, 2 O's scouts to be honored today in L.A.

Two Orioles scouts and one Orioles Hall of Famer will be honored today by the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation at the annual "In the Spirit of the Game" dinner in Los Angeles. Former Orioles third baseman Brooks Robinson will receive the foundation's Player Lifetime Achievement Award, while Orioles scout Fred Uhlman Sr. and former Orioles scout Grover "Deacon" Jones are two of seven men to receive the prestigious Legends in Scouting Award for meritorious service. Uhlman, a Baltimore resident, has been scouting for the Orioles since 1985 after spending 17 years with the Cincinnati Reds. He's credited with signing, among others, Gregg Olson, David Segui, Steve Finley and Arthur Rhodes. Jones, a former big league first baseman, was the Orioles' advance scout for much of the past two decades. Completing his final season with the club in 2010, Jones also has worked for the Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros and San Diego Padres.
