Baylor's Dunn too much for Morgan; Navy tops Longwood
LaceDarius Dunn set career highs with 43points and 10 3-pointers as Baylor broke out of a shooting slump in the second half and raced past visiting Morgan State, 89-72, on Tuesday night. Dunn hit three 3-pointers within 58 seconds during a 19-4 run midway through the second half as Baylor (10-3) broke open a tight game. McDonald's All-American Perry Jones III, who was held scoreless Monday in a win over Texas Southern, bounced back with 17 points, and Quincy Acy added 11 points and eight rebounds. DeWayne Jackson, who matched Dunn almost shot for shot down the stretch, had 29 to lead Morgan State (5-7), while Justin Black added 13 and Aric Brooks 10. Morgan State, which dropped a 79-63 decision to Baylor in Waco last January, took a 28-20 lead midway through the first half behind Jackson's 13 points. But when the sophomore forward went to the bench with his second foul at the 9:33 mark, Baylor surged ahead and led 42-40 at the break.
More Division I: Jordan Sugars scored 20points and J.J. Avila added 19 to lead host Navy (5-11) to an 87-70 victory over Longwood (5-13). The Midshipmen trailed 45-34 with 18:01 remaining in the game, but went on a 26-15 run to tie it at 60 with 8:14 to go.
Division III: Bill Nelson collected his 500th career victory as host Johns Hopkins rallied from nine points down in the final 61 seconds of regulation and beat Messiah, 65-62, in overtime in the consolation game of the Blue Jay Invitational. Hopkins trailed 54-45 before going on a 13-4 run to tie the game at 58. Mike Rhoads led Hopkins (3-8) with 18 points, and Mike Henrici had 17. The longest-tenured and winningest coach in program history, Nelson is the 29th coach in NCAA Division III history to reach the milestone. In his 31st season as a head coach, Nelson is 500-296 (.635) overall. He's 395-243 (.622) in 25 seasons at Hopkins. … Trae Lindsay had a game-high 20points, but host Goucher lost to Lehman, 70-58. The Lightning (7-6) outscored the Gophers (2-6), 37-29, in the second half.
Women's college basketball
Sheahin, Tolley pace Loyola in 68-59 victory over Rider
Katie Sheahin scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half and Meredith Tolley had 14 points and 12 rebounds as visiting Loyola beat Rider, 68-59. The Greyhounds improved to 5-8, 2-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Broncs fell to 0-13, 0-2.
More Division I: Host Navy (7-7) outscored Howard (3-11) by 11 points in the first half and won, 58-45. Cassie Consedine and Angela Myers each scored nine points for the Midshipmen. … Mary Dunn had 17 points in a losing effort as visiting Mount St. Mary's (3-10, 0-2 Northeast Conference) fell, 77-65, to Quinnipiac (5-8, 2-0).

Salisbury alum Quinn leaving Seahawks for Florida
Dan Quinn, who played football for Salisbury from 1990 to 1993, will leave his position as defensive line coach for the Seattle Seahawks to become defensive coordinator at Florida.
Men's soccer: Navy defender Martin Sanchez was named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com freshman All-America second team.
Women's lacrosse: Lindsey Gormley, who led the NCAA in assists at William & Mary in 2001 with 44 as Lindsey Lowman, was named coach at Harford Community College. She was an assistant coach at Christopher Newport from 2002 to 2006.
Men's lacrosse: Salisbury's Jim Berkman was named NCAA Division III Coach of the Year. The Sea Gulls went 21-2 and reached the national championship game. He also won the award in 2006 and 2007.

Report: Nats, LaRoche have deal; 2 Blast players honored
A person familiar with the negotiations told the Associated Press that the Washington Nationals and free-agent first baseman Adam LaRoche have agreed to a two-year contract, pending a physical. Speaking on condition of anonymity Tuesday night because the deal had not been completed, the person said the agreement contains a mutual option for 2013. LaRoche bats left-handed, and he would join fellow new arrival Jayson Werth in the middle of the lineup along with third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. LaRoche hit .261 with 25 homers and a career-high 100 RBIs for the Arizona Diamondbacks last season.
MISL: Blast defender Mike Lookingland was named Defensive Player of the Month and teammate Sagu was named Co-Goalkeeper of the Month. Lookingland had four points and 10blocks as the Blast went 3-1 in December. Sagu allowed 14 goals (three 3-point goals and 11 2-point goals).
NFL: Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman (Maryland) will get $3.7 million from two former Duke basketball stars after a federal judge in Maryland ruled in his favor in a loan dispute. The judge ordered Christian Laettner and Brian Davis to pay Merriman in December.
