Notre Dame Preparatory School, in collaboration with the One Love Foundation, has raised $1 million to endow a scholarship and help build a turf field at the school in honor of Yeardley Love, a graduate who died after being assaulted in her apartment near the University of Virginia last year.
The One Love Foundation was set up after the death of Love, a senior at Virginia and a resident of Cockeysville, who was just weeks away from graduating when she died. Her ex-boyfriend has been charged with murder in her death.
In September, the Charles T. Bauer Foundation agreed to match all gifts up to $500,000 raised. During several months of fundraising efforts, including a road race, a golfing event and a night at an Orioles game, the One Love Foundation raised $220,000. The school raised $280,000 more.
