State police arrested two men Tuesday in the stabbing death of a 71-year-old man Cecil County man earlier this week.

Lillian Jacobs, 24 and John Wayne Davis, 31, both of no fixed address are charged with first- and second-degree murder in the death of John R. Fleming, 71. Fleming was found dead with stab wounds on the living room floor inside his Earleville home on Monday morning.

Information led police to Jacobs and Davis, who were seen pushing a wrecked pickup about one mile from Fleming's home in the 100 block of New Jersey Avenue on the day of Fleming's death. Police believe the pair were given a ride to Fleming's home the day of the murder.

Jacobs and Davis, who were wanted for unrelated charges, were arrested early Tuesday morning at a mobile home park in Earleville. During the arrest, police noticed bloodstains on their clothing.

Both are charged with first and second degree murder in Fleming's death. Jacobs is being held at the Cecil County Detention Center without bond. Davis is awaiting an initial appearance before the Cecil County District Court Commissioner.

Police said the cause of death is undetermined and motive remains under investigation.
