A Baltimore-area man died Friday morning from injuries suffered in a one-car crash on an Interstate 695 ramp in Baltimore County, according to state police.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, was found critically injured in the accident that occurred shortly after midnight on the southbound ramp to Interstate 95 at Exit 33 near Nottingham, said Cpl. Jeff Kirschner of the Maryland State Police Golden Ring barracks. The driver was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment, Kirschner said.

Kirschner said the man was alone in the Volkswagen he was driving, and no other cars were involved in the accident. Kirschner was not able to provide details on how the crash occurred, but said the trooper who investigated the incident noted in his report that "alcohol was believed to be a factor."

The trooper who investigated left the scene about 3 a.m., but it was not clear from his report if roads were closed or for how long.
