Water service restored after North Ave. main break repaired

December 17, 2010|By The Baltimore Sun

Water service has been stored to businesses and homes on a nearly mile-long stretch of North Avenue after a main break required crews to cut off water Thursday, according to the city's Public Works Department.

Water service was cut off on North Avenue between Harford and Belair roads, agency spokesman Kurt Kocher said.

The broken 6-inch main overnight has been fixed, he said. During the repairs, a 20-inch main nearby had to be shut down. Initially, crews thought the problem was the larger main.

One lane remains closed but traffic is getting by, Kocher said.
