If Obamacare is unconstitutional, what about Medicare?

December 16, 2010

In response to the federal judge's ruling that the individual mandate in the president's health care reform act is unconstitutional, I ask, are Social Security and Medicare unconstitutional?

I am forced to pay in as a participant. What's the difference with a mandate to buy health insurance? From the New Deal to the present, America has been a society that looks after those in need. It may be far from perfect in that we are forced to share with some who may not deserve such largesse, but it is a great society.
