Power rankings roundup: How they're ranking Ravens

December 15, 2010|By Baltimore Sun reporter

Here's a look at how other media are ranking the Ravens this week. The average of the rankings surveyed below is 5.4. The highest the Ravens are ranked is No. 5; the lowest is No. 7.

ESPN dropped the Ravens one spot, to No. 5, just below this week's opponent, New Orleans, and just above Philadelphia.

Baltimore beat Houston in overtime. But the Ravens' lack of killer instinct is concerning.

CBS Sports moved the Ravens up this week to No. 7 from last week's No. 9, which was their lowest ranking in last week's roundup.

That defense had trouble against the Texans pass offense. And now come the Saints? They better improve that coverage.

• The Ravens held at No. 5 in NBC Sports' rankings.

The Patriots' favorite team will be whichever team faces Baltimore in the wild-card round.

Fox Sports moved the Ravens up a spot to No. 5, two spots below the Saints who are at No. 3.

The Ravens were lucky to win against the host Texans. They blew an 18-point lead and their defense ran out of gas late in the game. It won't get any easier on a short week against the visiting Saints and their high-powered passing game.

USA Today kept the Ravens at No. 5 for the second straight week.
