Girls Athlete of the Week // Bri Jones, Aberdeen, basketball

A 6-foot-3 center, Jones led the No. 6 Eagles to a 3-0 start, including a 28-point, 17-rebound effort in a 65-45 win over No. 10 Meade last week. She also had 25 points and nine rebounds in a 67-44 win over Bel Air. Jones averages 26.5 points, 13 rebounds and 8.5 blocks. The sophomore plays Amateur Athletic Union basketball for the Fairfax Stars. She is an A student in Aberdeen's School of Math, Science and Technology and plans to become a pediatrician. Also a member of the Eagles' volleyball and track teams, Jones aims to play college basketball.
