Baltimore firefighters Sunday morning battled and contained a three-alarm fire in a two-story self-storage warehouse on the south side of the city, a block from where Ravens fans congregate for tailgate parties before home games.

The fire erupted shortly before 6 a.m. in the 125-foot-long U-store warehouse in the 1400 block of Ridgely Street, across Russell Street from M&T Bank Stadium, according to Chief Kevin Cartwright, the spokesman for the fire department.

As heavy black smoke filled the air, fire trucks and engines surrounded the warehouse, which is sided in corrugated sheet metal. After battling the blaze from the roof of the building, firefighters then entered the warehouse and fought the fire on the second floor.

No injuries were reported. Cartwright said no cause has been determined.
