A 24-year-old was killed after his Honda Accord collided with another car, causing a multi-vehicle crash at a Glen Burnie intersection Thursday night, Anne Arundel County Police said.

William Edward Gruber III, of no fixed address, was headed east on East Ordnance Road about 7:45 p.m. when his car rear-ended a car waiting in the left lane to turn onto Blades Lane, which caused Gruber's car to spin into oncoming traffic, police said.

Police believe that Gruber may have been under the influence of drugs, contributing to the crash, but say it remains under investigation.

The four-vehicle crash began when Gruber struck Linda Darnell Bohlen Lassiter of Reisterstown's 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which collided with a 2000 Dodge Ram in front of her, driven by Kenneth Jones of Glen Burnie.

Gruber's car then spun into oncoming traffic, causing his car to strike a 2010 Dodge Caravan being driven by Elizabeth Charmaine Mund of Pasadena, which was headed west on East Ordnance Road.

Gruber was pronounced dead at the scene. Donte Edward Taylor of Baltimore, who was riding with Gruber, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he is in serious condition, police said.

Lassiter also is in serious condition at Shock Trauma. Mund was taken to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
