Howard County police have charged two young men from Columbia with attempted murder and assault in connection with the stabbing of a 37-year-old man who was hospitalized with multiple wounds after what police say was a drug transaction that turned violent.

Police have arrested Damian Lamar Jones Jr., 18, of 7539 Summer Blossom Court and Malik Raheem Davis, 16, of 7660 Woodpark Lane. Davis has been charged as an adult.

Police say Jones and Davis attacked Clifton Epps, 37, after Epps tried to buy marijuana and a dispute erupted. The stabbing took place Monday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 7600 block of Woodpark Lane in Columbia, in the Kings Contrivance community.

Epps lives nearby; he rushed home after the stabbing and was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Epps and Jones knew each other, police said. Officers continue to search for a third suspect, they said, and are seeking tips at 410-313-STOP.
