Morning road closures, traffic diversions due to city fires

Road closures Drivers should avoid Charles Street, which is closed between Centre and Eager Streets, as well as Cathedral Street — closed between Eager and Madison — and Madison Street, which is closed between Park Avenue and St. Paul Street.

Commuters should be aware that Baltimore Street is closed downtown from Guilford Avenue to Gay Street, and Holliday from Fayette to Water St.

Public transit In Mount Vernon, the MTA has diverted routes 3, 11, 61, 64 at Charles and Centre streets, according to the MTA website. Buses will resume their regular routes at Chase and Charles streets. Downtown, MTA has diverted routes 5, 8, 20, 23, 40 and 48, 91 and 160 Express at Baltimore and Gay streets, and will resume their regular routes on Baltimore Street. In Mount Vernon, the Hopkins shuttle has been rerouted to the alternate northbound stop, which is at St. Paul Street and East Mount Vernon Place.
