Hanukkah celebrations

•A grand menorah lighting will be held on the fifth day of Hanukkah, 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at the City Dock. There will be dreidels, latkes, doughnuts and more. Free.

•A Hannukah bowl will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Annapolis Bowl, 2057 Generals Highway. Aleph Bet Jewish Day School will perform. Mention Chabad and get a discount on bowling game and shoes.

Christmas dinner and program

The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer will hold a Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at the church, 7606 Quarterfield Road, Glen Burnie. Dinner includes turkey, ham, sides, desserts and beverages. Tickets are $7 for ages 12 and older. Children younger than 12 eat free. Tickets available at the door. A program with Christmas music and a pageant starts at 7 p.m.

Preparing for Christmas

Sunday School students at Galilee Lutheran Church will help worshipers prepare Christmas through presentations in words and music at the 10:45 a.m. service Dec. 12 at the church, 4652 Mountain Road, Pasadena.

Refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall after the service.

Christmas programs

The Chesapeake Christian Center at 206 Weston Woods in Pasadena is sponsoring the following free holiday programs:

•"The Splendor of Christmas": Broadway-style musical tells the Christmas story through dance, drama and song. 10 a.m. Dec. 12.

•"Candy Cane Lane": Dove Award-winning musical teaches God alone can satisfy his children. 10 a.m. Dec. 19.

New Year's Eve Interfaith service

A New Year's Eve interfaith worship service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis. Representatives from local faith-based groups, civic and community organizations and area agencies will offer readings and prayers. Fellowship time will follow. Free.
