Boy Athlete of the Week // Matt Jablonski, Loyola, cross country

The senior won his second straight New York State Jesuit Championship on Saturday in near-record time in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. He finished the 2.5-mile course in 12 minutes, 35.85 seconds, the second fastest time in the meet's 61-year history. This weekend, he will run in the Nike Cross National Southeast Regional Meet in Cary, N. C., attempting to qualify for the Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 5 in Portland, Ore. Also a two-time MIAA A Conference champion, Jablonski was The Baltimore Sun's 2009 Cross Country Runner of the Year and is a two-time All-Metro track and field selection. He has committed to run for Oregon.
