State correctional officer found fatally shot in city

A woman found shot early Sunday morning inside a Northeast Baltimore house died of her injuries, Baltimore city police reported.

Sharon Jones, 28, a state correctional officer who worked in downtown Baltimore, was shot in the upper torso. A correctional officer, she worked in the downtown Baltimore's Central Booking and Intake Center or the transfer area, police said. Jones was found at the home of a friend.

Police responded at 3:41 a.m. to a dwelling in the 1700 block of Aisquith Street, where they found an adult female with a gunshot wound, according to police spokesman Det. Jeremy Silbert. Her identity and further details of the shooting were not immediately available.
