Winterfest of Lights begins in Ocean City

What: The 18th annual holiday festival features thousands of twinkling lights set amid hundreds of displays in a park setting. In addition to the lights, visitors will also find Winterfest Village, which offers a gift shop, hot chocolate and pictures with Santa through Dec. 23 — all inside a heated tent.

Where: Northside Park, 127th Street and the bay

When: Winterfest of Lights runs nightly through Jan. 2. Hours are 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

How much: Free.

Admission for the Winterfest Express train ride, which makes its way along a mile-long path filled with illuminated displays, is $4 for ages 10 and older. Children ages 9 and younger are free.

What's nearby: On selected Winterfest nights, free musical entertainment will be presented at the Winterfest Village. Also, the Holiday Shoppers' Fair begins Friday at the Convention Center and features photography, candles, nautical items, toys and more.
