November 13, 2010|By Mike Miller, The Baltimore Sun

Maryland (2-0) vs. Maine (1-0)

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Comcast Center

Television: Comcast SportsNet

Radio: 105.7 FM

Last meeting: Maryland won, 97-68, in the only meeting in school history on Jan. 24, 1970.

Preview: The Black Bears will look to knock off their second Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in as many years when they travel to College Park to face the Terps on Sunday. Maine beat Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., last season en route to a 19-11 record. Junior guard Gerald McLemore connected on 102 3-pointers (39 percent) last season and was named to the America East preseason All-Conference team.

After College of Charleston gave the Terps their annual non-conference scare Wednesday, Maryland will face a stingy Maine squad, which led the America East Conference last year in scoring defense, allowing 62.1 points per game.

Sophomore forward Jordan Williams posted a career-high 26 points and 15 rebounds Wednesday and freshman guard Pe'Shon Howard received valuable minutes off the bench, hitting a game-winning basket that sealed Maryland's second victory.

On Thursday Maryland will face Pittsburgh in the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer at Madison Square Garden.
