Stent case was all about the money, not the patients

November 11, 2010

After months of hearing and reading about stents being improperly used at St. Joseph's Hospital, I was more than taken aback when I read that the "three whistle blowers" were going to pocket a huge chunk of change ("Towson hospital settles kickback claims with U.S.," Nov. 10). It seems that Drs. Peter Horneffer, Stephen Lincoln, and Garth McDonald were more concerned about business being steered away from them rather then having concern for the patients who were alleged to have been improperly treated. Bottom line in my opinion is that this was about the almighty dollar. Knowing this certainly would not steer me toward these three as a patient. Shame on them.
