Baltimore police are investigating a shooting of a man in southern Baltimore early Monday morning, and after a preliminary investigation believe the shooting may have been the result of a drug deal gone bad.

Police received a report of a shooting at 2:38 a.m., and upon responding found a 32-year-old man shot in the shoulder and with a graze wound to the forehead in the 800 block of Caton Ave., at Wilkens Ave., near Saint Agnes Hospital. Further investigation revealed the shooting took place in the 100 block of South Carrollton Ave., in the Hollins Market neighborhood.

The victim was treated at an area hospital and had already been released by 9 a.m. Monday, police said. Police said they have no leads on a possible suspect, but believe the victim had driven into the area to buy drugs.
