A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery and assault of an 80-year-old woman in Northeast Baltimore over the weekend, police said Sunday.

The victim dropped her wallet while walking in the 7600 block of Harford Road around midday Saturday, and a man tried to grab it from her as she picked it up, said Detective Jeremy Silbert, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department. After assaulting her during a brief struggle, the man overpowered her and ran with the wallet, Silbert said.

Another man who attempted to intervene told the police that the robber pulled out a box cutter and tried unsuccessfully to injure him. After that, the robber fled, Silbert said.

Officers arrested Phillip Anthony Scott, 52, later on Saturday in that area of Baltimore. The victim and witness identified him as the robber, Silbert said.
