McDonogh girls advance in soccer

Casey Martinez scored the third and eventual game-winning goal with 30 minutes left and top-ranked McDonogh girls soccer beat Mercy, 3-2, in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland semifinal Thursday.

The Eagles (14-1-2) face Archbishop Spalding in Saturday's championship 7 p.m. at Anne Arundel Community College.

No. 5 Severna Park 2, No. 13 Broadneck 0: Marisa Kresge and Ryan Bathras scored a goal each to lead the host Falcons (16-0-3) past the Bruins in Class 4A East regional semifinal.

No. 15 Bryn Mawr 1, Friends 0: Morgan Rubin scored the game-winner from 20yards out in the second overtime to lift the Mawrtians (16-1) over the Quakers in an IAAM B Conference semifinal.

Bryn Mawr advances to Saturday's championship at Anne Arundel Community College vs. Roland Park at 5 p.m.

Field hockey

Glenelg Country School 1, Maryvale 0: Allie Pickens scored with 10minutes left to lift the host Dragons (15-4) over the Lions in an IAAM B Conference semifinal.

John Carroll 3, Mount de Sales 2: Allison Siegel scored twice for the host Patriots.
