A 19-year-old man who police say committed a series of armed robberies in the Hampden area was arrested Friday and charged in one of the crimes.

Devin Young, of the 4000 block of Evans Chapel Rd., was taken into custody Friday and was being held on $175,000 bond as the investigation continues. Police on Tuesday disseminated surveillance camera photos of a man they said had committed at least four armed robberies since July, which they said were escalating in violence. A tip led detectives to Young.

Court records show Young has a history of arrests in Baltimore County, including convictions for gun possession by a minor in 2007 and assault in 2008. In the assault conviction, court records show that he was given probation on the condition that he take medication.
