Future

New season Howard Community College's student alumni theater group, Arts Collective, opens its 16th season with the musical, "On Broadway," Oct. 14-17. Also, for the first time, Arts Collective will offer a subscription series that gives subscribers the opportunity to buy tickets to all six productions or four of their choosing at a discounted price. Golf tournament Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks presents the Celebration of Sports Golf Tournament on Oct. 14 at Timbers at Troy Golf Course in Elkridge. In addition to placement awards, prizes include longest-drive holes, closest-to-the-pin holes, and hole-in-one contests. Fees are $340 per foursome/$85 individual, and include greens fees, golf cart use, awards, special hole prizes, driving range use and lunch. Concert series The UU Chalice Concert Series' 20th anniversary season begins at 8 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way in Columbia, with saxophonist Tim Powell, accompanied by pianist Michael Adcock. 'Celebration of Sports' Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks has announced that Elise Ray will be the keynote speaker at the annual "Celebration of Sports" being held at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Turf Valley Resort and Conference Center in Ellicott City. Ray was captain of the 2000 United States Women's Gymnastics team that competed in Sydney, Australia. Gala Gilchrist Hospice Care's 25th annual Taste & Auction of Howard County will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at Turf Valley, 2700 Turf Valley Road in Ellicott City. Event features cash prizes, a silent and live auction, one-day sport fishing trip, two Baltimore Ravens football helmets autographed by quarterback Joe Flacco and tight end Todd Heap, and a baseball signed by former Oriole Rick Dempsey.
