Last meeting: Duke defeated Maryland, 17-13, on Oct. 24, 2009 in Durham, N.C.

Maryland offense vs. Duke defense: Duke has surrendered 44.5 yards per game, last in the ACC. But the Blue Devils, who have lost three in a row (Wake Forest, No. 1 Alabama, Army) have five interceptions, tied for the league lead. Blue Devils defense is led by LB Abraham Kromiah (7.8 tackles per game). Maryland expected to again play QB Danny O'Brien, who threw for 250 yards against FIU last week in his first career start. Receiver-returner Torrey Smith (foot) has been limping but is expected to play.

Duke offense vs. Maryland defense: Terps lead the ACC in red-zone stops but have had difficulty on third down. Maryland's defense has been on the field for 321 plays in four games — including 98 against FIU and 85 against West Virginia the previous week — compared to 214 for opposing defenses. "I'd be lying if I said fatigue hasn't been a factor," defensive coordinator Don Brown said. Duke QB Sean Renfree leads ACC (278.2 passing yards per game) and receiver Conner Vernon leads league with 28 receptions.
