Scouting report: Morgan State vs. Bethune-Cookman

Series: Bethune-Cookman leads 16-8.

What's at stake: The Bears and Wildcats meet for the 25th time. Morgan is 4-4 against Bethune-Cookman under head coach Donald Hill-Eley, winning three of the past four contests. The Bears knocked off Howard last week, 20-3, for their second win of the season. The Wildcats own a powerful offense and enter Saturday's game ranked No. 1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring offense (44.3 points per game), total offense (491 yards per game) and rushing offense (267.3 yards per game), among other categories.

Key matchup: Senior quarterback Matt Johnson is the leading passer and rusher for the Wildcats, averaging 96 yards rushing and 183.7 passing yards. Johnson passed for a career-high 225 yards and three touchdowns last week against Norfolk State. Morgan sophomore middle linebacker Allen Stephens averages almost nine tackles, while his team-best 33 tackles ranks second in the MEAC.

Players to watch: Morgan senior defensive lineman Kevin Myrie was named Most Valuable Player of last weekend's New York Urban League Football Classic at New Meadowlands Stadium, recording five tackles and one sack. Senior kicker Kemar Scarlett is responsible for 32 of Morgan's 46 total points this season. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Eddie Poole has racked up 137 yards receiving with two touchdowns for the Wildcats. Junior defensive end Ryan Davis leads Bethune-Cookman with five tackles for a loss, including two sacks. Davis ranks second on the team with 16 tackles.
