Nets in talks to land Anthony

September 25, 2010

The Nets are negotiating a four-team deal that would land them Nuggets All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony.

Citing an NBA source, the New York Daily News reported Friday that Anthony has signed off on the trade and would sign a three-year, $65 million extension to stay in New Jersey through 2013-14. The Nuggets will meet with Anthony this weekend in a last-ditch effort to keep him in Denver after his contract expires next summer.

In the proposed deal, Anthony would go to the Nets, who would send first-round pick Derrick Favors to the Nuggets and Devin Harris to the Bobcats. Boris Diaw would be shipped from Charlotte to Utah, which would move Andrei Kirilenko to the Nuggets. Denver also would get multiple draft picks.

• The Wizards signed Andray Blatche to an extension that will pay him around $35 million over five years. … Tired of players complaining, the NBA will crack down on "overt" gestures by calling more technicals. … The Spurs named Jacque Vaughn an assistant coach.
