Howard County Police arrested a 30-year-old Silver Spring man Thursday they say is the "Preppy Burglar" who broke into a Highland house earlier this month.

Jeremy Matthew Hall of the 1400 block of Silo Way faces burglary, theft and destruction of property charges, police said.

Police received a tip from someone who recognized Hall in the footage released to media Wednesday. The video from Sept. 14 shows a man wearing a necktie and button down shirt robbing a house in the 7600 block of Browns Bridge Road, which is west of Fulton and south of Route 216 near the Montgomery County line.

The resident whose house was robbed supplied police with video from a surveillance system outside his home.

The thief walked to the front door carrying papers, knocking on the door, and looking in the windows. He then went to the rear of the home to remove items and left through the front door with electronics equipment and other property.

Police do not know yet if Hall is a suspect in any other cases. Hall does not have a criminal record.

He was released on $15,000 bail.
