3 Arundel schools to reopen Tuesday after water pipe fixed

September 20, 2010|By Baltimore Sun

Three Anne Arundel schools that were closed Monday because of a ruptured pipe in a water supply line will resume classes Tuesday, school officials said.

Chesapeake High School, Chesapeake Bay Middle School and Folger McKinsey Elementary School at Chesapeake Bay Middle School were closed for students and staff on Monday. Even though the break in the pipe had been fixed, the district said there was not sufficient water in the tower feeding those schools, schools spokesman Bob Mosier said. School officials said that the pipe ruptured due to aging.

Monday's missed day will likely be offset by extra days placed into the school calendar, school officials said.
