Retrievers rally to beat Mount, 3-2, in men's soccer

UMBC scored three unanswered goals to rally for a 3-2 victory over host Mount St. Mary's (3-3). Pete Caringi (Calvert Hall), Levi Houapeau and Chris Williams (Calvert Hall) scored goals for the Retrievers. Andrew Bulls (McDonogh) had two assists. Ty Fenstermacher scored for the Mount, which got its second goal on an own goal.

More men's soccer: Defender Pierre Zibi scored a minute into the second overtime to give St. Mary's a 3-2 victory over host Stevenson (6-1, 0-1). … Host Salisbury (6-0-2) played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Lynchburg (4-2-1). … Mike Pappas scored a goal to lift Washington & Jefferson over visiting Frostburg State.

Women's soccer: Visiting St. Mary's (1-2-1, 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference) got goals from sophomore forward Tori Eskay and sophomore forward Kim LaBarge (South River) and an assist from senior defender Taylor Colonna (Perry Hall) in beating Stevenson (3-4, 1-1), 2-0. … Johns Hopkins (6-1-0) scored four first-half goals on its way to a 7-0 rout of visiting Washington College (2-2-1). Taylor Schulte, Erin Stafford, Allie Zazzali, Amanda Yaccarino, Christina Convey, Paulina Goodman and Sara Tankard scored goals for the Blue Jays. Junior goalkeeper Tori Ripple (John Carroll) made a career-high 19 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen. … Goals by junior Sarah Jessilonis and sophomore Julia Finecey weren't enough as Salisbury (2-6, 1-1 CAC) lost, 4-2, to host York (1-4-1, 1-1).

Field hockey: Senior Katie O'Donnell set the Atlantic Coast Conference career points record with an assist in Maryland's 4-2 victory over visiting Boston College (6-2). Junior Jemma Buckley and freshman Jill Witmer each scored two goals for the Terrapins (6-0). Johns Hopkins (1-4) lost, 3-0, to host Gettysburg (3-2) in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams. Junior goalie Kim Stein had four saves in the defeat. … Visiting Salisbury (5-1) fell, 3-0, to Messiah (4-1) in a rematch of the 2009 Division III national championship. … Eight players scored goals as St. Mary's (6-0) routed host Roanoke (1-4), 8-1. Women's volleyball: Four players tallied double-digit kills as freshman Kaveingna Lea'Aetoa had a match-high 17 and junior Zoe Bowens added 16, UMES (4-8) fell, 14-25, 25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 15-13, to Hartford (5-9) in the Kristin Dickmann Memorial Tournament at Navy. … Salisbury (9-4) defeated Gallaudet (5-8), 25-20, 25-16, 25-10, before losing to Eastern (14-0), 25-20, 25-11, 25-13, in the championship game of the Sea Gulls' SU Invitational.
