A 22-year-old Owings Mills woman surrendered to Howard County sheriff's deputies Friday after she was indicted this week for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol in the death of Cecilia Ann Amato, 68 of Ellicott City.
Alison Lesley Walsh, who police said was from the 9400 block of White Cedar in Owings Mills, was later released on bail. According to court records, .
Police said Mrs. Amato was seated behind her husband, Antonio Joseph Amato, 74, of the 4000 block of High Point Road Ellicott City. They were riding on their 2005 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle the evening of July 11 as Amato slowed for a traffic light on U.S. 40 at Marriottsville Road. Walsh's 2008 Honda Civic struck the rear of the motorcycle, police said. Mrs. Amato died later in a hospital. Mr. Amato was hospitalized but survived, and Walsh was not injured.
