Shearer's hat trick leads Mount de Sales over Park, 4-2, in field hockey

Ryan Tucker scored the game-winner 15 minutes into the game and Cotter Brown added an insurance goal five minutes later as host No. 5 Gilman boys soccer team upset No. 2 Loyola, 2-0, Tuesday.

Gilman improved to 5-0, and Loyola fell to 2-1.

Tucker was able to draw the goalie out and slide the ball past him for a 1-0 lead. Brown scored on a shot that rebounded off the post.

Gilman has outscored opponents 10-1 and has four shutouts in five games.

Archbishop Curley 1, No. 13 Calvert Hall 0: P.J. Koscher scored with an assist from Ricky Greenselder 15 minutes into the first half as the host Friars (2-1) upset the Cardinals (1-1).

Curley goalie Jason Gordon recorded four saves.

John Carroll 2, No. 15 Archbishop Spalding 1: Colby Fell and Zach Hammons each scored as the visiting Patriots (1-1) upset the Cavaliers

(4-1-2).

Andrew and Jake Brown made four and three saves, respectively, for John Carroll.

Alex Critzos had the lone goal for Spalding.

Field hockey

Mount de Sales 4, Park 2: Julianna Shearer had a hat trick to power the visiting Sailors (5-1) past the Bruins (0-2).

Amanda Ignacio assisted on two of Shearer's goals.

Tess Gann scored twice for Park, which trailed 3-0 at the half.

The Bruins' Maddi Wyda made 12saves. Mount de Sales' Victoria Gottleib had seven.

The Sailors have won two straight.
