Man critically injured in Arnold car accident

Speed, alcohol factors, police say

September 12, 2010|By Annie Linskey, The Baltimore Sun

Three young adults riding in a 2010 Cadillac were injured early Sunday morning when the driver hit a tree in Arnold, police said.

Dolan Emmit Watson, 20, of Arnold was driving south on Old County Road near Wroxeter Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. when he lost control of the car, Anne Arundel County Police said. As the car began to spin counterclockwise, Watson overcorrected, causing the car to spin in the opposite direction and hit the tree head-on, police said.

Police said speed and alcohol were factors. The incident remains under investigation.

Watson was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition Sunday, police said. Passengers Andrew Augustus Gayle and Jessica Meaghan Whyland, both 19 and from Edgewater, were listed in serious but stable condition at Shock Trauma.
