Anne Arundel County police have arrested a 21-year-old man in an attempted rape and abduction from the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail in Harundale.

A 20-year-old woman told police that she was on the trail about 2:20 p.m. Thursday when a man grabbed her from behind and attempted to drag her off the trail into a wooded area. Her screams caused a man to come out of a nearby home, and the attacker fled.

Officers established a perimeter and found a man matching the description of the suspect near the Marley Station Mall. Michael Jovante Armond Johnson of the 7800 block of Willing Court in Pasadena was carrying condoms and a knife, police said.

He has been charged with attempted second-degree rape, second-degree assault, kidnapping and other charges and was being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in lieu of $750,000 bail. Police asked anyone with additional information to call the sex offense unit at 410-222-3416.
