Danny Ferry rejoins San Antonio Spurs as executive

The Spurs named former Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry vice president of basketball operations.

Ferry played for the Spurs in 2000-03 and was the team's director of basketball operations in 2003-05. He was a member of the franchise's title teams as a player in 2003 and the front office two years later.

After leaving the Spurs, he joined the Cavaliers and remained GM there until June.

•Serbian center Nenad Krstic, who also plays for the Thunder, was suspended Thursday for three games and fined $43,950 for his role in last week's mass brawl at a basketball tournament in Greece.

Fellow countryman Milos Teodosic and Greek players Antonis Fotsis and Sofoklis Schortsanitis were banned for two games, the sport's governing body said on its Web site.

•The 76ers told swingman Andres Nocioni to sit out the upcoming world championships because of a nagging ankle injury.

Nocioni, from Argentina, has yet to suit up for the Sixers since being acquired in a June trade.
