Big blow for Boston College

Boston College junior wide receiver Colin Larmond Jr., who averaged 20.6 yards per reception on his 29 catches with five TDs in '09, will miss the season after suffering a serious knee injury Saturday. Ryan Lindsey, who has one career catch, is listed as Larmond's backup with Billy Flutie (five catches in '09) the other starter.

•The NCAA is investigating South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders about possible rules violations regarding dealings with a sports agent, The State (S.C) newspaper reported. Saunders is believed to be connected to the NCAA's ongoing investigation of players on North Carolina's team. According to ESPN, the NCAA is looking into who provided funds for a vacation Saunders was on this spring.

•Senior Adam Froman won a three-way battle and will start at quarterback for Louisville on Sept. 4 against Kentucky. He started seven games last season.

•Running back Darius Barksdale, a former Mr. Football in Mississippi, joined Jacksonville State. He is a transfer from the University of Mississippi.
