Crash stymies N. Baltimore traffic during rainy rush hour

Vehicle strikes pole at Northern Parkway and Greenspring, knocking out power

August 18, 2010|By Nick Madigan, The Baltimore Sun

Baltimore police were faced with a traffic tie-up this morning in North Baltimore after a vehicle struck a utility pole and knocked it over, blocking the intersection of Northern Parkway and Greenspring Avenue during a rainy rush hour.

A city police spokeswoman said officers had blocked off the intersection because wires from the pole were strewn across the road. The accident caused a power outage in the area, she said.

There were no estimates for how long the intersection would be blocked. Traffic authorities are recommending taking Cold Spring Lane as an alternate.
