What to watch in the Ravens' preseason opener

August 11, 2010

POSITION: Cornerback. There's a chance that Fabian Washington (knee) and Chris Carr (hamstring) won't play. With Domonique Foxworth out for the season, that could press Travis Fisher and Cary Williams into the starting lineup. Thankfully, the regular season is still a month away.

VETERAN: Kicker Shayne Graham. He came into camp as the frontrunner to beat out Billy Cundiff for the job, but he's been running hot and cold all camp. Graham missed three of four field-goal attempts Tuesday.

ROOKIE: Tight end Ed Dickson. The third-round pick has been the most impressive rookie in camp. He is a natural at catching the ball, which showed up immediately this summer. Dickson should get a lot of playing time in the preseason.

ON THE BUBBLE: Wide receiver Demetrius Williams. It was only a few years ago when Williams was thought to be the sleeper of the Ravens' 2006 draft. But injuries and inconsistency have put him in a make-or-break preseason.

INJURY REPORT: Starters not expected to play are: OT Jared Gaither (back) and CB Chris Carr (hamstring). Players who are questionable: G Ben Grubbs (undisclosed) and CB Fabian Washington (knee). Players who are out: FS Ed Reed (hip), CB Lardarius Webb (knee), LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (quads), RB Matt Lawrence (knee), OT Tony Moll (concussion), CB K.J. Gerard (hamstring) and defensive back Marcus Paschal (leg).
