The roof of a stable being built at a Clarksville, horse farm collapsed Friday morning around 10 a.m., injuring three workers who were rushed to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, according to the Howard County Fire Department.
All three hospitalized workers were conscious and stable, but listed as "serious," according to Julia Lynch, a fire department spokeswoman. Two were moved by helicopter and one by ambulance.
Investigators believe roof trusses of a new riding stable fell in at the Marama Thoroughbred Breeding and Racing stable in the 5000 block Chambliss Drive. All three, who were not identified, were working on the roof when it fell in, but none were trapped underneath. Eight other people on the ground near the building when the accident occurred were examined and treated for minor injuries on the scene, Lynch said. No animals or people were inside the stable at the time of the collapse.
