Baltimore city no longer a safe place to live

August 03, 2010

It seems like every time I watch the news or read the newspaper Baltimore City has reported homicides all the time. This city is no longer a safe city to live in. Most homicides are due to robbery. What is this city coming to? I think our mayor needs to fix it.

Milton Hill, 70, was the eighth homicide victim last week. Having eight homicides in one week really shows how dangerous Baltimore City is. Most of the homicides were people who did no wrong and were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. These types of crimes disgust me to know that Baltimore City is no longer what it used to be.

In my opinion, I believe there should be a punishment for anyone committing a crime especially when the same person commits the same crime repeatedly. Baltimore City judges are not being hard enough on these criminals. Most homicides are committed by a person who has a bad criminal background on something they are now on trial for. It's ridiculous how these people are just getting away with it. If these criminals were punished for what they did, they wouldn't be out on the streets committing more crimes.

Baltimore City police are risking their lives out there to put these criminals away and the judges are just setting them free. This is not right and unfair. What's the point of the police locking them up if they're just going to get out and commit the same crimes all the time? Baltimore needs to fix this problem or it will only get worse within time. I know there's only so much you can do to solve such a big problem, but making little steps to attempt to fix it can help little by little.
