Two men were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning after the pickup truck they were riding in flipped over, ejecting them, Anne Arundel County police and fire officials said.

The men, whom police said were in their 20s and 30s, were taken by paramedics to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for injuries that appeared to be serious but not life-threatening, said Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

The accident occurred about 5:45 a.m., as the green Ford pickup was traveling west on Route 100 at Interstate 97, said Lt. Glenn Shanahan, of the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Shanahan said the "curvy" nature of the road could have contributed to the accident, but the cause is still under investigation.
