Baltimore County police have arrested and charged a man they suspect fatally shot another man early Friday morning in Catonsville, according to a police spokesman.

Gregory William Brown, 36, of no fixed address was charged with first-degree murder after he was found outside the residence of James Michael Cazer, 41, who was discovered in his home with a gunshot wound, said Cpl. Mike Hill.

Officers responded to a call at about 1:40 a.m. in the 600 block of Meyers Drive. Cazer was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he later died, police said.

The two men knew each other, according to police, and Cazer let the suspect into his home. However, a motive for the attack remains unknown.

According to electronic court records, Brown faced nearly a dozen drug-related charges dating to 1995. He was sentenced to one year in prison for first-degree assault in 2004.

Brown was denied bail and remains at the Baltimore County Detention Center. His bail review is scheduled for July 26.
