Two lanes of the Baltimore Beltway near Route 40 in Catonsville have opened on the Inner Loop after an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a box truck occurred early Tuesday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

The accident happened about 6 a.m. at the intersection of Route 40 and Interstate 695, police say, when the driver of the box truck hit the tractor-trailer in the rear. The box truck driver was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with nonlife threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

All lanes of the Baltimore Beltway's Inner Loop were closed while officials dealt with injuries and accident cleanup, and traffic was diverted to Route 40 during that time.
