Trial postponed in beating of elderly black fisherman

Man with tattoo of Adolf Hitler on midsection faces armed carjacking, robbery charges

A Baltimore circuit judge postponed the trial for a man with a tattoo of Adolf Hitler on his midsection, who is accused of beating a 76-year-old black fisherman at a city park.

Calvin Lockner, 28, faces charges of armed carjacking and armed robbery in what authorities have called a racially motivated attack at Fort Armistead Park in South Baltimore. Lockner and co-defendant Zachary Watson, now 18, who faces the same charges, were scheduled to go to trial today. Watson has told police he did not participate in the beating of James Privott.

The case was postponed because Lockner's attorney is involved in another trial. The new date is Sept. 27.

Another defendant, Emmanuel Miller, 16, was found guilty in juvenile court of participating in the group beating.

Lockner is a convicted sex offender who police say confessed to the beating. Lockner told police that the beating would not have happened if the victim had been white, according to court documents.

Privott suffered a fractured eye socket and lost three teeth during the attack. Court documents say the three defendants stole Privott's vehicle after the attack.
