A plague on both your parties

June 15, 2010

Over the last couple of days there have been letters published criticizing the respective political parties. One claims that President Obama and his administration is failing miserably and the other blames the Republicans for messes created during the Bush years. It simply amazes me that these views still exist.

Those who lean to the left continually blame President Bush for all of our country's existing problems. Well guess what? At some point, your president is going to have to take responsibility for loading this country with debilitating debt rather than blaming previous administrations.

Those whose thinking leans to the right must realize that President Obama is no different than President Bush. President Obama is just adding links to an already rusted, corroded chain. I can only speak for myself, but I haven't found myself pining for the golden Bush years.

The point is that nothing has changed. Collectively, society needs to realize that our two prominent political parties are both pushing toxic initiatives. We have to look outside of the box for fresh candidates with fresh ideas. We have to vote all of these career politicians out of office from the local level right on to the president.

Stop bickering, wake up and do the right thing.

Brian Fitzpatrick, Catonsville
