Details of the Baltimore Grand Prix — an IndyCar race to be held on downtown streets in 2011 — will be announced Wednesday, according to the groups organizing the event.
Baltimore Racing Development and the Indy Racing League have scheduled a mid-day news conference with Gov. Martin O'Malley and Mayor Stephanie C. Rawlings–Blake to outline plans for the race and related events.
In May, IndyCar officials announced that a race would be scheduled for Baltimore streets in 2011, and city elected leaders approved a contract for the event, to be held every August for five years. Baltimore would join Long Beach, Calif., Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Toronto as Indy Racing sites.
